The presented project intends to bring a new view on the functioning of the centrally planned economy in Czechoslovakia. Existing research concentrated on formal system of planning and relationship between enterprises and the planning centre. We intend to focus on the micro level of the individual enterprises. We plan to map the enterprises operations using grounded theory (based on collecting data and series of codes from the interviewing of previous companies managers). Our intention is to find out the possible existence of the difference between formally correct managerial and planning procedures and real every day practice. Subsequently we will compare our findings with known theories of socialist system functioning. The general project´s approach is interdisciplinary – it interconnects economics, political sciences and (economic) history.
