The project seeks to examine trust and distrust in professional and alternative media in the Czech Republic. The main task is to apply innovative theory-driven measures capturing trust and distrust in media within a fragmented media environment. The project aims to bridge a major gap in current domestic research of trust in media, which is anchored in concepts and measures developed for rather non-fragmented media environment. Theoretically, the project draws on the sociological notion of trust and approaches trust in media as a hybrid, multidimensional form of societal trust. The empirical aspect of the project draws on a quantitative survey of the Czech population, offering a comprehensive study of trust and distrust in professional and alternative media in the Czech Republic.
