Endosomal trafficking is vital in plant development both in optimal and stress conditions. We have shown that regulated vesicle trafficking is necessary for membrane integrity preservation and therefore for plant resistance to acute osmotic stress. More recently still, we published the impact of oxidative stress on subcellular trafficking and correct localisation of plasma membrane proteins vital for plant development, among them PINs. Now we identified proteins diversely localized along the secretory and recycling pathway. Our candidates include, a so far uncharacterised Ankyrin domain-containing protein, ARF-GEF BEN1 and P₄-ATPase lipid flipase and our preliminary data indicate their role in cellular stress response. Characterization of those proteins will provide insights into the function of subcellular machinery in plant response to stress and might have potential applications to engineer stress resistant plants that might be curial regarding incoming climate changes.
