Effect of Selected Antibiotics on Methanogenic Archaea

Anomalous behaviour of methanogenic archaea cultured together with antibiotics has been observed. Some methanogens seem to grow faster cultured with high doses of antibiotics than methanogens cultured without any antibiotics. We will carry out cultivation screening experiments with and without antibiotics followed by RNAseq transcriptomic analysis to better understand this effect. We aim to describe this phenomenon in detail and illustrate possible metabolic pathway involved.
