Validity and benefits of simulation medical training are now well admitted. For shoulder dystocia it has been proven that hybrid simulation training reduces the rate of brachial plexus injuries, with a sustained effect.

The Project for Achieving Consensus in Training (PACT) by the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology recommends simulation training as a key part in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology curriculum to acquire the necessary skills. Emergencies are rare therefore training of their management is essential to improve both individual skills and team performance.
A large number of simulation programs now exist. Data supporting their effectiveness come mainly from studies on selected topics (such as shoulder dystocia). However, we have not been able to find a standardized simulation course focusing on the most important emergencies in obstetrics and gynaecology where the effect of this course would be proven by improvement of theoretical and practical knowledge.

Advantage of such a course would be a financially efficient way to provide simulation training to a great number of healthcare professionals. We believe that through the widely available simulation training we would be able to contribute to increasing patient safety.
