This project focuses on advancing the understanding of cellular processes in Ostreococcus tauri, the smallest known eukaryotic organism, by developing novel imaging techniques using super-resolution microscopy and electron microscopy. The aim is to study O. tauri’s unique method of cell division, which appears to occur without conventional chromosome condensation, and to explore RNA metabolism by quantifying ribosome numbers and gene expression dynamics. In parallel, light-sheet microscopy will be applied to plant tissues in collaborative projects, supporting cutting-edge research in programmed cell death and aging in plants. This work has the potential to reveal new insights into fundamental biological mechanisms and contribute to advancements in biotechnology and RNA research.
