Popis | In this contribution the results of the atmospheric pressure non-thermal plasma treatment of biocompatible polymer surfaces (PMMA, PTFE) are presented. The aim of the work was to activate surface of polymers and to create polar function groups, which result in surface adhesion and free surface energy increase. The optimal plasma treatment conditions like treatment time, discharge input power, sample distance from the electrode surface and working gas were investigated. Physical analyses (contact angle measurement, AFM) and chemical analyses (XPS) before and after treatment were made. Treatment time less than 10 s was sufficient to obtain essential decrease of water contact angles (increase of hydrophilicity) on polymer surfaces (3 s by PMMA, 7–10 s by PTFE). Monitoring of ageing effect demonstrated, that surface hydrophilization seems to be permanent. AFM measurements showed that such treatment do not destroy the polymer surfaces. Higher number of polar functional groups containing oxygen (C–O, O–C=O) was created on the polymer surfaces. |
