Popis | Similes and metaphors of the Milesian philosophers are wholly different from the mythological ones. Particularly, there are differences in function and effect. Most of the extant Milesian similes take their material from Milesian craftsmen environment. Nearly all of the main Milesian domains are covered. That is odd because there was a civil war among riches and craftsmen in Miletus during the time of the Milesian school, and the philosophers are considered to be of the riches. Then the metaphor in Anaximander's fragment B1 does not relate to some abstract law, but presumably to this incident, speaking about the need of reconciliation. |
