Popis | Alternative splicing is a tightly regulated process accompanying gene expression. It leads to multiple protein variants from a single primary transcipt. Transcriptome sequencing revealed that >60 % of Arabidopsis genes are alternatively spliced. This raises the question if all the identified isoforms have biologically functional relevance. Our aim is to answer this question for three members of auxin and cytokinin pathways: PIN4 (PINFORMED 4), PIN7 and AHP6 (ARABIDOPSIS HISTIDINE PHOSPHOTRANSFER PROTEIN 6), where all of them are known to be processed into more alternatively spliced mRNAs. PIN4 and PIN7 are processed into two isoforms called a and b, respectively, which differ in their subcellular localization. Also two isoforms of AHP6 have been described, AHP6b and AHP6a. We found that both of them are expressed as stable proteins and are actively transported into nuclei. |
