Popis | Sylvia Plath, one of the most influential American poet, novelist, and short story writer of the 20th century, is often associated with her homeland. However, she studied not only at Smith College, but also at Newnham College at the University of Cambridge before receiving acclaim as a writer. Secondly, a rich and important area of her work that is often overlooked is the wealth of landscape poetry written about the Yorkshire moors. Moreover, in many interviews she comes back to her London and Cambridge experience revealing her attitude towards ‘Britishness’. In my paper, I will analyze the dual identity in the work of Sylvia Plath. I will focus on her own perception of this duality in her journals and the impact on her poetry. |
