Citace
Popis Karel Čapek can be considered one of the most important Czech authors and his works are alive even today, if not for his ideas, it's for the language that can be rightfully considered "modern". Čapek belongs to the group of most often translated Czech authors together with Bohumil Hrabal, Milan Kundera and Václav Havel, and as Dario Massimi noticed, he's ‘the most long-lived author in italian translation’. During almost a century nineteen of his literary works have been translated, some of them even several times. Only a few foreign writers were able to reach such success. His works were introduced into Italy in the second half of the 1920s thanks to the relentless effort of the Italian Slavists. However already during the next decade, and continuting for another 20 years, we bear witness to a peculiar choice of translations (several short stories and two books for children) while his most significant novels of the period weren't translated at all. It wasn't until the 1960s when the uniterrupted stream of translations started to flow again, with first appearance of his novels and other completed literary works.
