Popis | Aim: Determine the smoking habits of staff at home and while working. Introduction: Smoking is one of major causes of disease around the world. Campaigns against it were started several decades ago, but unfortunately they seem to be ineffective, because an increase of smokers have been observed during the last decade. Chronic smoking is associated with the increased likelihood of postoperative chest infections, delay in wound healing and other surgical complications and for that reason staff is supposed to be supportive and give example to patients, so encouraging people to avoid smoking or those who smoke will quite. Unfortunately, many patients excuse themselves, because of such behaviors. Cigarette consumption is rising in Central and Eastern Europe in contrast to that in Western Europe and North America. This audit was performed in surgical units and evaluates several factors of quality of health care services provided by teaching hospitals. |
