Popis | Guillermo Cabrera Infante (1929 - 2005), Cuban writer, presents Havana in his work, the city exactly defined by time-space and other mimetic coordinates. In the same time this Cuban reality becomes the mimetic base for the entry to the nocturnal word and in more common meaning of the Carnival (which serves as the reference of the erotism and laugh), different disguises and travesties (realized through various semiotic codes). The Carnival disguises also mean the delaying of the reality in the sense of the identitary loss and always will be realized in the level of the language. The author actually perceives the language as the protagonist of the Carnival and attributes him the entertaining role. This entertainment consists in various wordplays which – after the interpretation – can acquire a disturbing ambivalence or even gain the „perversion“ role where the reality is distorted through the language. Our text aims to the role of the language in the work of Cabrera Infante: first, from the viewpoint of his relation to the reference reality in which the duality of the language sign becomes dichotomic. Second, we focus on the language as the mix of the semiotic codes because the music is the inherent part ot the Cuban culture and in the work of Cabrera Infante the music often defines the structure of whole narrative scheme. |
