Popis | The paper presents the Social Education perspective of the career development in the context of recent social and political changes in the CEE region, the Czech Republic in particular. In this perspective, the author emphasizes two dimensions of career development – social and educational – and shows an example of their real implementation within personal and social development in the training of future teachers at the Faculty of Education of the Masaryk University. The author analyzes the current notions of career and career development and the way it is dominated by the psychological discourse, leading both in theory and in practice to the focus on the individual and his career, his identity, his needs. Regarding the "social" dimension, it moves spotlight from an individual career towards society as a whole and its current challenges – the breakdown of social structures, social exclusion and fear of the future. This shift also entails a redefinition of the target group for further educational and counseling activities – the focus on marginalized and disadvantaged groups is expanding to the entire population (employers, institutions etc.). In relation to the "educational" dimension, the author formulates three key issues of a "changing world" – the development of competences at three levels: 1. adaptability, flexibility of the individual and other skills necessary for the labor market, 2. critical consciousness, social awareness, engagement, 3. empathy and sensitivity to the environment, neighborhood, fellow citizens. Career development and career guidance thus become a part of a broader pedagogical model – the personal and social development of an individual. |
