Popis | The purpose of this paper is to examine the Mauriacian metaphor concerning friendship, respectively love, from a double perspective. Based on the approach that Paul Ricoeur formulated in his text The metaphor and the central problem of hermeneutics (1972) we see in the metaphor the object of a hermeneutical analysis explaining the text as well as the rooted subject in a certain semantic field and unveiling a certain "poetic project" of the whole text. For this, Ricoeur wants "that the metaphor be treated as a kind of statement and not as a departure from the meaning of words". As a translator applying a "translatological" or "hermeneutic" reading of the text, we use the proposed dichotomy, at the epistemological level, between two concepts, the concept of interpretation and that of explanation. If the interpretation has subjective specific connotations, such as a reader's involvement in the comprehension process that goes as far as to interpret oneself, the explanation is more objective and free from any specific implication on the part of the reader or of the translator. Then we can proceed in two ways - one leading from the metaphor to the text and the other in the opposite direction, from the text to the metaphor. If in the Gadamerian hermeneutic tradition we foresee a "fusion of horizons", it is as much as an opening towards a poetic project to be identified, a project that governs metaphorical statements. |
