Popis | In current research-supported humanistic approaches the therapist´s approach is directed by both understanding the mechanisms of change and the constant tuning into the dynamic system of the psychotherapy situation. It results in a process-oriented approach in which specific interventions are used at appropriate moments. Gestalt therapists can share this basic attitude, in which they neither act solely intuitively nor strictly following a prescribed guideline. Manuals in this sense can serve as a supportive third party that helps orient the therapist in the therapy process, that helps to ground and settle the therapist, that helps the therapist attune to the client. This expands the therapist´s capacity for meeting the client. This way the manual can support the therapeutic relationship in which the therapist´s interventions are offered to the client. |
