Popis | A proprietary type of advanced surface dielectric barrier discharges capable to generate diffuse plasma in flowing gas mixtures with high concentration of water vapor will be presented. The robust plasma source consisted of micro-hollow plasma sources distributed on surface area 18 × 18 mm and was powered by sinusoidal high-voltage. The bactericidal effect of plasma activated gas flow on Escherichia coli, (methicillin-resistant) Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis biofilm contamination on polypropylene non-woven textile surface was investigated. The germicidal efficiency of short and long-time exposure was evaluated by standard microbiological cultivation (CFU plate counting) and fluorescence analysis using fluorescence multi-well plate reader. The test was repeated at different distances of the contaminated PP non-woven sample from the dielectric surface. The detection of reactive species in plasma activated gas flow, the optical emission spectroscopy of plasma, thermal and electrical properties of used plasma source were measured also. The bacterial biofilm decontamination efficiency increased with the rise of exposure time and the input power of the high-voltage source. The log reduction of viable biofilm units varied with the increasing distance from the dielectric surface. |
