Popis | The paper is focused on the role of innovative citizen science within the urgent mapping as a challenging topic. It serves as an example of "how crowds could quickly help on-demand" when some unexpected situations occur as well as preventive mapping of "white places" on the maps. In cases such the epidemic or natural disasters, the humanitarian efforts might be powered up by many volunteers who are gathering data, classifying data from satellite images and creating basic maps for humanitarian purposes. Some specifics related to these efforts are obvious – the motivation of volunteers, the form of cartographic languages, the different skills and free access – all of these factors are discussed in the paper. Furthermore, a case study of mapathons held in the Czech Republic will be mentioned. |
