Popis | Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is the most common X-linked muscular dystrophy. Male patients can have DMD, whereas female patients can be asymptomatic carriers of DMD (aDMD-FC). They can develop cardiomyopathy in their fourth to fifth decade, probably due to myocardial fibrosis. Early detection of myocardial dysfunction is critical for their prognosis. Cardiac magnetic resonance feature tracking (CMR-FT) may serve this purpose. It allows myocardial deformation assessment through global longitudinal strain (GLS), global radial strain (GRS), and global circumferential strain (GCS). Our prospective study aimed to evaluate these left ventricular (LV) strains in aDMD-FCs compared with healthy control subjects using CMR-FT. All healthy control subjects were women recruited from the same age groups to provide comparable results. We believe this comparative approach has not yet been published. |
