Popis | The effect of an enhanced bromide intake on the uptake of iodide by tissues of rats was studied. It was found that a high level of bromide in these animals caused a marked decrease in iodide concentration in the thyroid, stomach, and skin. The decrease in iodide concentration is probably caused both by the competitive inhibition of an uptake of iodide by superfluous bromide, and by the rise in the renal excretion of iodide due to the excess of bromide in the organism. |
