Popis | Generalized convulsive status epilepticus (GCSE) in pediatric patients is an emergency condition with high morbidity and mortality and potentially irreversible brain damage, leading to cognitive deterioration, psychomotor retardation, chronic epilepsy with recurring seizures, and other complications. Treatment must be initiated in the impending GCSE phase, within five minutes of the onset of a generalized convulsive seizure. Early initiation of treatment and adequate therapy is a prerequisite for a good patient outcome. |
