Popis The Pilgrimage Site in Tuřany is well known for its miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary which was supposed to cure diseases or protect against disasters like floods, fires, wars and plagues. Jesuits were presented in Tuřany by Olomouc Bishop Karl von Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn in 1666. In the following years they significantly contributed to the development of this Pilgrimage Site. During 1666–1698 they built here their residence, new cloister and church of St. Anne with appropriate decoration. With respect to the main subject of the veneration, statue of the Virgin Mary, the artistic decoration of the former Pilgrimage Site was related to the history and miracles of the Madonna of Tuřany, however the Iconography of St. Anne and the Holy Family took here important place as well. The Cult of St. Anne in Tuřany had medieval origin and Brno Jesuits followed this tradition. Jesuits decided to reconstruct the old chapel of St. Anne and during 1693–1698 they built a new church of the same dedication with the cloister. The new cloister with four chapels of St. Anne, Joseph, Joachim and John the Baptist was the main space for pilgrims. They were literally surrounded here by „members“ of the Holy Family via chapels and its artistic decoration. The aim of this paper will be to present the Pilgrimage Site in Tuřany as the comprehensive symbolical Image of the Holy Family.
