Popis | Objective: Although there are cohort variations in the prevalence of sexual behaviour among adolescents, very little is known about changes in predictors of early sexual intercourse. The focus of the present study is to analyse the linkages among risk and protective factors and sexual intercourse and how these associations change for different birth cohorts. Design and Method: We utilized data from the Health Behaviour in School Children (HBSC) project. Network analyses were conducted for three birth cohorts of ninth-grade Czech adolescent boys and girls (2014, 2018, 2022; N=2111–2972). Results: The network analyses for both girls and boys identified very few stable edges related to sexual intercourse itself. There were stable partial correlations among this sexual behaviour and substance use-related clusters. Other known factors of sexual intercourse were insignificant. Despite the decline in the cohort rates of this sexual activity in Czech girls, no variations in edges were found. Conclusions: In the Czech Republic, sexual behaviour among fifteen-year-old adolescents is predominantly associated with substance use, suggesting that prevention efforts should pay attention to the context of alcohol and marijuana use |
