| Popis | While most Western tourists nowadays go to Paris, Strasbourg or Reims in search of Gothic monuments, few have any idea what treasures can be found on the other side of Europe - in today's eastern Slovakia. This now almost excluded location hides an unexpected story. It is a story of rapid glory followed, as it happens, by a steep decline. At the same time, it is a story that upsets our received ideas of a rich "West" and a poor "East". Although today there are hardly any trains to the Slovak Red Mountains anymore, in the 14th and 15th centuries it was a rich center producing top-quality art objects. Therefore, the 45th episode of the podcast takes us on the so-called Gothic Journey with archaeologist Jiří Macháček and art historian Ivan Foletti.
