Popis | Nature is often studied in archaeology either as a place where history happened, or when we need to find out about the climate past societies lived in, while the human factor is often omitted. This is also true when talking about nature management and protection, cultural landscape value is neglected from the factors needing protection. Yet, in many cases, the nature around us has been created by humans in the past. This article tries to summarise the relationship modern society and archaeology as a science has towards cultural landscapes, and how this current state reflects on the heritage protection laws in the EU. One of the main outcomes of this societal change is a theoretical shift in scientific paradigm, to properly reflect such developments in the future. |
