Popis | This contribution examines the involvement of laypersons in the legislative process in Czechoslovakia during the Legal Biennial, which was the recodification process after the 1948 Czechoslovak coup d'état to implement the new people’s democratic law. The contribution focuses on how laypeople, particularly workers and members of mass organizations, were integrated into the drafting of new laws under the newly established communist regime. It explores the ideological motives behind this inclusion, aimed at reflecting the class-based nature of socialist law, while also highlighting the practical challenges faced during the codification process. Despite these challenges, the involvement of laypeople led to many benefits with direct impacts on the legislative level of the recodified laws, that contribution also identifies. |
