Popis | The anatomy of the muscles of the forearm and hand in humans has been studied in great detail, including existing anatomical variations. For animals, the description of the structures and anatomical variations is still not complete. The aim of this case study was to describe the anatomy of the muscles of the forearm and hand with emphasis on the origin, insertion and innervation of the muscles in one individual of the Anubis baboon. Obtained information were compared with the available data on this animal and with the anatomical standard and possible variations in humans. The biggest differences were found in flexor digitorum profundus muscle, flexor pollicis longus muscle, extensor digiti minimi muscle, abductor pollicis longus muscle and in the group of the muscles of the middle space. Any work describing anatomy in detail is an important contribution to the stabilisation of the anatomical standard and variability in these exotic species. Detailed description of the anatomical structures is crucial for improving techniques in the field of veterinary surgery and orthopaedics. |
