Popis The ruins of Castle Pyšolec (Žďár nad Sázavou District) stand above the regulation reservoir of the Vír Dam on the River Svratka. Originally built as a residential castle by the lords of Pernštejn, the Moravian margraves were also important owners. The exact date of its foundation is not mentioned in any written sources and its history can be traced only to the 14th century. The castle was abandoned before 1464. A survey of the site adjacent to the slope below its northern pillar brought a large collection of finds reflecting life in the medieval castle. Most common in the ensemble are common utility ceramics of regional origin, as well as builders’ hardware, finds proving the use of horsepower and animal bones. More precious artefacts include coins and items of personal belongings, which are proof of the more privileged position of their holders.
