Popis In this paper, the atmospheric pressure plasma was used to modify the surface of NR/SBR un-vulcanized rubber blend. NR/SBR rubber blend was subjected to the plasma for 30s and 60s exposure time and power of 400 and 600 W under ambient air atmosphere. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed that the higher the power and the longer the exposure time, the more carbon reduction appeared, and oxidation was produced. Infrared spectroscopy demonstrated the presence of hydroxyl, carbonyl, and carboxyl functional groups after the plasma treatment which are attributable to the surface free energy enhancement. Despite that, deterioration of adhesion was observed. It was found, the plasma treatment accelerated the vulcanization of the NR/SBR rubber blend approximately for 0.5 min.
