Popis The extension of the elimination voltammetry with linear scan (EVLS) on the solid graphite electrode have been studied in this work. In this contribution, EVLS was used for the investigation of the electrode reaction mechanism during the electrolytical coating of the paraffin impregnated graphite electrode by Ni, Co and Ni-Co. Electroplating is the commonly used electrochemical surface improving method. Metals or alloys are deposited for the fabrication of single or multi-layer coatings. Hydrogen is the second element evolved simultaneously on the cathode during the electrodeposition of metals from aqueous acid solutions lowering thus the cathodic efficiency of the plating process. By application of the elimination function it is possible to eliminate the kinetic current corresponding to the hydrogen evolution and to get more information about the electrode reaction. Experimentally measured cyclic voltammograms for three scan rates: 12,5 mV/s, 25 mV/s and 50 mV/s, were treated by EVLS. The elimination functions were calculated for elimination of one current or simultaneous elimination of two currents. Results suggest the adsorption of intermediate species and surface reactions in electrodeposition mechanism. Application of EVLS brought new information useful for explanation of mechanism of electrode reaction of metal deposition.
