Popis | Methamphetamine (MET) similarly to other psychostimulant drugs invokes during its repeated administration a significant increase in behavioural responses. This phenomenon is termed behavioural sensitization. There are various reports on involvement of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor activity in the development and expression of behavioural sensitization, although results of them are rather controversial. Thus, the present study was designed to investigate a possible influence of NMDA receptor non-competitive antagonist memantine (MEM) on sensitization to methamphetamine effects on mouse locomotor/exploratory behaviour in the open field test. |
