Popis | Using a new concept sampling rates (Rs) for silicone rubber (SR) passive samplers could be measured without the necessity to analyse aqueous phase concentrations. SR sheets of the large total surface area spiked with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were applied as a dosing system. SR uptake sheets of much smaller surface were used to measure the uptake rate. For two experiments under largely different hydrodynamic conditions decreasing log linear relations of Rs with hydrophobicity and diffusion coefficients in water were found. The slopes were equal and the difference in exposure conditions was characterized by different intercepts. For extrapolation of Rs to higher hydrophobicity range an empirical model based on passive sampler-water partition coefficients (Kpw) was derived showing a good agreement with a theoretical model based on diffusion coefficients. |
