Associate professor on Department of Mathematics and Statistics

Workplace: Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic

Type of Contract: temporary position with 2-year contract (with possible extension), academic

Working Hours: 1 FTE (full-time employment of 40 hours per week)

Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the Faculty of Science MU is opening 1 Associate Professor position. The position is initially opened for 2 years, with expected permanent prolongation, subject to the condition that the educational programme Data Analytics will be fully self-financed in two years.

 

Job Description

Key Duties: the researcher will continue his own strong research activities (part of his position within the research grant devoted to Cartan Supergeometries and Higher Cartan geometries, principal investigator Jan Slovak), and he will take over the role of key teacher in the newly launched programme Data Analytics, guaranteed by Jan Slovak.

Skills and Qualifications

The applicant must have:

  • A PhD degree and habilitation (or equivalent work experience) in mathematics or related areas
  • Experience and strong background in preparing educational texts and further materials prepared for blended learning in the area on the borderline between Mathematics and Computer Science
  • Experience and strong background in research combining geometric analysis, Lie theory and Mathematical Physics
  • Strong experience in teaching in English on top universities abroad
  • Good communication skills and fluency (oral and written) in English
  • Good and relevant publication record

  • High motivation to join the research team
  • High motivation to enter modern form of educational activities, including full AI support
  • Good vision of the future research and educational interests
