Job Description

The purpose of the position is to provide scientific capacity for further development of the population studies research infrastructure, to improve its international visibility and applicability of its results, to engage in scientific research, development and innovation activities as well as in educational activities, especially by supervising students' qualifying theses.

The academic researcher will participate in the realisation of CELSPAC population studies, in particular contributing to

  • the conceptual management and long-term operation of the CELSPAC infrastructure unit;
  • preparation of protocols for new studies and associated standard operating procedures;
  • preparation and implementation of questionnaire surveys and clinical examinations and collection of biological material;
  • strategy and operation of biobanking facilities for long-term storage of samples from population studies;
  • data analysis and interpretation;
  • preparation and implementation of international projects on population environmental exposure and health impact studies, including communication with partners and exchange of information and data;
  • Publication activities.

Skills and Qualifications

  • a degree in medicine, biology, environmental or social sciences, a Ph.D. degree
  • knowledge of the design and protocol of long-term population studies
  • knowledge of data collection methodology and biological material for such studies
  • knowledge of data analysis and evaluation of the results of population studies
    • practical experience in all three phases of the study
  • interest in public health issues and environmental health impact studies
  • ability to work as part of a team and independently to solve complex scientific, research or development tasks, including publication of results
  • experience in leading teams
  • willingness to participate in teaching and practical supervision of students
  • willingness to pursue further education
  • willingness to interact with international research teams
