Motivation to study and first impressions of first-year students at MU
First-year students in pregraduate Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes
The MU First-year students survey focuses specifically on all first-year Bachelor’s and long-cycle Master’s degree programme students at Masaryk University. The survey was first carried out in 2007.
The survey focuses on the following thematic areas:
- factors influencing the choice of studies and admission to university,
- decisive factors for choosing MU,
- admission procedure,
- motivation and expectations associated with studies,
- initial experience at MU,
- conditions for study and plans concerning work,
- additional selected information.
First-year students in graduate Master's degree programmes
The Motivation and expectations of incoming Master's students from other universities was first implemented in 2014 and focuses on students who have successfully completed their undergraduate studies at another university in an attempt to understand their motivation to select Masaryk University for their Master's degree studies.
The survey deals with the following issues:
- reasons and motivation for not registering for Master's studies at one's home university (i.e. where one acquired a Bachelor's or other degree),
- reasons and motivation for choosing MU for Master's studies,
- decision-making process in the case of successful admission to several studies,
- strengths and weaknesses of one's home university,
- strengths and weaknesses of MU,
- study expectations at MU.
