Optics and Optometry
Bachelor's degree in full-time form. The language of instruction is Czech.
The programme can be studied only as a single subject.

What will you learn?
The aim of the study program is to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills for performing of the profession.
Study program Optics and Optometry, respectively Optometry, is aimed to educate non-medical healthcare workers in accordance with the Law on Non-medical Health Professions (Act No. 96/2004 Coll.). Graduates of this Bachelor's degree program may continue in the follow-up master program of Optometry. During the study, emphasis is placed on interconnection with related branches in the eye care, especially ophthalmology.“Eye - a window to the soul.”
Practical training
This bachelor's degree program includes practice by more than 1000 hours of relevant legal regulations. Students in practical exercises verify theoretical knowledge gained during lectures and seminars. Practice is carried out in specialized teaching laboratories, at opticians, optometric workplaces, ophthalmology ambulatories and clinics.
This practice will be in the form of a group, then an individual with supervision, and is spread over all semesters, emphasising the second half of the study.

Career opportunities
The University prepares specialized health care workers under Section 10 (1b) and (4) of Act No. 96/2004 Coll., on the conditions for the requirements and acquire of output for the achievement of non-medical health professions and the performance of activities related to the provision of health care (Law of non-medical healt professions, as amended), to the full extent within the scope of preventive, diagnostic, medical and rehabilitation care in the field of optometry.
The graduates of the Bachelor's degree program are employed as health service providers or as healthcare providers as optometrists.
Specifically, the graduate can work independently in optician's establishments, private and state ophthalmology and optometric ambulatories and centers, refractive centers, contact lens fitting centers, clinics, spectacles and lenses producers, spectacle frames, individually manufactured medical devices , ophthalmic, optometric and optical devices, which they also serve.
