Follow-up Master's degree in full-time form. The language of instruction is Czech.
The programme can be studied as a single subject or in combination with another programme.
What will you learn?
The aim of the Master’s degree study programme is to develop and deepen the knowledge and skills acquired in the Bachelor’s degree study programme. Students will become acquainted in detail with the intellectual aspects of the social and cultural evolution of humankind and develop their critical thinking and argumentative skills. The contents of the program include contemporary Anglo-American, French, and German philosophy, ontology, epistemology, comparative ethics, and scientific methodology. Contemporary issues in systematic philosophy, ethics, theory, and scientific methodology are emphasized.

Graduates with this degree are qualified for independent work in state administration, educational institutions, and professional institutions of social sciences and humanities orientations. They can make use of their acquired knowledge and skills in editorial work in journals and publishing companies, and in any positions requiring communicative skills, critical thinking, and unbiased judgment.
Admission requirements
Admission to Master's degree programmes in 2025/2026 (beginning: Autumn 2025)
Deadline for submitting applications: January 1 - April 30
Who the programme is intended for: The programme is intended for graduates of any Bachelor’s degree programme.
Conditions of acceptance: Applicants upload the following documents for the admission procedure into the e-aplication (rubric “Documents”) by June 1:
- Applicants must submit a motivation letter (up to 20 points), a persuasive essay (up to 40 points) and a list of completed courses (up to 40 points). In the motivation letter, the applicant will first of all describe what he/she expects from studying philosophy and how academically prepared he/she is. A persuasive essay on any topic must respect the criteria of professional style, contain a clearly formulated thesis and the reasons for its acceptance; the essay must not exceed 12 000 characters. The originality of the thesis, the persuasiveness of the reasons and the appropriateness of the style will be evaluated. The applicant also submits a Diploma Supplement of his/her previous studies; if he/she does not have one, then he/she submits a transcript of records that includes a complete list of courses taken and grades received.

- Bachelor’s or minor thesis with reviews (graduates of non-diploma, two-subject studies of Philosophy and another programme may submit their minor thesis for the field of Philosophy);
- Structured CV;
- Motivation letter where the applicant states why they want to study in the Philosophy programme, why they have selected the Department of Philosophy at FA MU, and what topic they want to deal with in their studies and when preparing their diploma thesis.
Applicants are required to include their full name and application number on all attached documents.
