Public lecture: Myth of the Rational Voter
-
23 March 2022
7:00 PM - Učebna P102
Bryan Caplan is a professor of economics at George Mason University. He is the author of such books as Selfish Reasons to Have More Kids, The Case Against Education, Open Borders, and last but not least, The Myth of the Rational Voter, which was named "the best political book of the year" by the New York Times.
In his lecture, Professor Caplan will present his contribution to public choice theory and the concept of irrationality in economics. According to Caplan, the biggest obstacle to balanced economic policy is not entrenched interest groups or rampant lobbying, but popular misconceptions, irrational beliefs and personal biases that ordinary voters suffer from.
The lecture will take place on Wednesday, 23 March at 19:00 at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of Masaryk University in room P102.
