Earthen architecture – the return of a lost building tradition

A mixture of clay, water and chopped straw is one of the basic building materials and has found wide application in folk architecture. The workshop will present one of the outcomes of the applied research of the National Institute of Folk Culture and will focus on the handmade production of unfired bricks. It was the most typical element of the presented building tradition.

The workshop, led by Martin Novotný, PhD, will take place throughout the day in the courtyard of the Faculty of Arts MU in the area between buildings A, B and D.

The event is part of the 16th International Congress SIEF: Living Uncertainty.
