The quaternary Ni-Al-Cr-X (X = Co, W, Mo, Ta, Ti) systems represent relatively simple yet sufficiently representative model systems for commercial Ni-based superalloys. The microstructure of these systems and the kinetics of phase transformations (precipitation of ordered phases as (' and ( in the bulk, precipitation of intermetallic phases as P, ( at internal interfaces) in course of thermal treatment at typical service temperatures will be studied experimentally by analytical microscopic techniques. Microstructure will be correlated with mechanical properties (hardness). The experimentally obtained phase data will be used as an input for thermodynamic modelling of equilibrium phase diagrams of above mentioned systems in the regions of coexistence of phases with order - disorder transition, i. e. (-(' or (-(, respectively. The main result will be the establishment of phase diagram sections in the concentration and temperature ranges of interest for superalloy applications and creation
