The proposed grant project is aimed at the study of social and emotional problems of gifted children of preschool and young school age. The strategy of the study is divided into clearly formulated steps. For the identification of the gifted a sophisticated identification strategy, based on the co-operation with teachers, parents and physicians will be used. For the identification of really gifted the Mönks theoretical concept of giftedness will be used. The selected children will be examined in the empirical study especially in the field of personality (mainly emotions, sociability, sensitivity, self-esteem, motivation, communication abilities, cognitive style and creativity), school (especially education from the academic and social point of view, teachers, the preferred style of learning etc.) and family (especially relation to parents and siblings).
