The major obstacle in further progress of library services automation at MU is the currently insufficient technological equipment. The aim of the project is to solve this situation (in the perspective of several years and at minimum costs) by installing central university library server (Unix version), representing an advantageous variant of a "multilicence" of a uniform library technology for all MU faculties (based on the TINLib library system). The server will be used by librarians (storing bibliographic data) as well as readers (accessing data via the academic computer network), and will provide valuable experience to be utilised in the process of building union catalogue of MU libraries.
Results
The Catalogue-OPAC module of the library system TINLib unix version. Library records from individual MU libraries are continuously stored into the system - either directly or as copies of local catalogues of those departments that run the TINLib system (or some other, TINLib-compatible library system) independently. Library information stored on the server is available (in the OPAC form) to all users of the CESNET (Internet) network and form a basis of the future union library catalogue of MU.
