The diploma and Ph.D. theses are serving, among others, as a relevant indicator of both student's acquired level of knowledge and the quality of institution providing the education. For that reason, any higher education institution should pay great attention to the level of its bachelor, master and Ph.D. theses. At Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University (FAEMU), the theses are related to the study programmes of Corporate Economy, Finance, Economics, Public Economics and Regional Economics and Administration. In all these areas evidence-based approach is considered to be a standard. However, there is a disappointing number of theses suffering from the lack of appropriate usage of quantitative methods and empirically based conclusions, inadequate approach to data collection and irrelevant interpretation of results. To enhance the quality of diploma and Ph.D. theses via appropriate usage of quantitative methods appears to be a clear work of necessity.
