Collapse of the communist autocracy in the Eastern Europe allowed i.a. the wide research of the party system
stabilisation and of the influence of the electoral system on this process. It indicated also some methological
problems, because some of the regular research tools were found not enough suitable for the specific conditions
of the East-European countries. Proposed alternative approaches are also in some cases questionable, especially
quantitative indicators, which demand very exact sets of data. In this project different approaches of the party
system stabilisation should be applied, analysed, evaluated and compared. Comparision could help for the
formulation of the more precise methods of the research and could be useful for specification of the role,
advantages and disadvantages of the different approaches, both quantitative and qualitative.
