Project Political regionalism of the Czech Republic and Slovac Republic and changes of electoral map in
the years 1993 - 2010 concentrates on the evolution and current state of electoral maps and voting behaviour in
the Czech Republic and Slovac republic since te break-up of the federal state composed of these two countries
until the year 2010. Modern approaches of political science, such as cleavage theory, composite and contextual
approaches to study of voting behaviour, study of electoral systems and theory of second order elections, will
be used to study and analyze the changes in the electoral base of the Czech and Slovak political parties.
Dissemination of project results will consist of a monograph containing two case studies concentrating on the
Czech and on the Slovak political environment after 1992. Results of the project will also be published as
articles in scientific peer-reviewed journals in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and the international
journals as well. These materials will then be further used as teaching materials at the Departement of Political
Sciences at the Faculty of Social Science at the Masaryk University. Conclusions reached during the project
will be presented as a part of special course on elections and electoral geography.
