We propose to investigate the process of post-polyploid genome evolution in Microlepidieae species. In particular, we intend to:
1) generate genome and transcriptome assemblies for selected Microlepidieae and parental species,
2) partition each reshuffled allotetraploid genomes into two homeologous subgenomes,
3) reveal patterns gene fractionation and subgenome dominance during diploidization,
4) elucidate the dynamics of transposable elements and small-scale genomic variations,
5) clarify the relationship between MICR species and the unplaced genera of Dipoma and Hemiophia,
6) estimate the timing of tetraploidization event(s).
