This interdisciplinary project explores personal relations, gender and family structures at Bronze Age communities across the Austrian and Czech border (c. 1600-800 BC). It brings together archaeologists and anthropologists with a profound interest in studying cremation graves and their potential to inform us about social relations of the past. We will use the latest methods to investigate the age and sex of co-buried individuals to reconstruct family structures at Bronze Age cemeteries and identify complex patterns of social relations. Our findings would be compared across the region. A workshop and a co-written article in an international, peer-reviewed journal will be outcomes of this study.
