The goal of the project is to analyse protection as well as incentive function of the social security system and of active labour market policies: their impact on life-strategies of the unemployed and on life-conditions of households with an unemployed m ember. Particularly the strategies of securing the incomes of those households (compensation of earnings), strategies of job-search and activities which should improve the labour market chances and strategies of coping with social exclusion. The project would focus on subjective perceptions of the social benefit system in relation to the expected wages from available jobs and on the role of this reflection in forming the life-strategies of the unemployed. Also the factors which influence those strategie s including those which emerge from active labour market policies and other interventions of labour market institutions (counselling, social services a.o.) would be evaluated.
