The long-term aim of this project is to feed the pipeline of future talent for advanced manufacturing industries. Children, especially girls, need interventions at a young age to dispel negative stereotypes around what kind of jobs are accessible and interesting, and conversely to plant positive perceptions of science, engineering, and technology. Our project will provide additional curriculum-linked classroom activities and lesson plans that empower teachers to run a design challenge in the classroom. Part of the project is to support the training of primary school teachers in the field of 3D printing, the development of curriculum and educational materials, and the implementation of a competition for students (8-10) in the field of modeling and 3D printing.
