| Description | The lecture introduces international students arriving at Masaryk University to the Czech culture as well as to the intercultural environment of the international community of the foreign students at MU. Based on the analysis of a survey conducted with foreign students from the past years, the newly arrived students learn how national identity, ethnocentric attitudes, and stereotypes influence intercultural communication and how critical incidents and misunderstandings interfere in intercultural communication. The lecture further discusses certain cultural aspects of the Czech culture and gives students ideas and tips how to deal with their culture shock. |
